As we sit down to work out how to communicate what the summer has been like for us, we would be remiss to not stop and be grateful -to God first, and then to all of you whom He has used! So to those who have prayed, visited, encouraged, counselled, sent gifts for our maintenance, thank you!!! We are grateful for being able to dedicate time to teaching the Word, encouraging the saints, and evangelism. We are grateful for daily grace to our growing family. There is so much to do and I am super-grateful to those who continue to support us in our life and work here!

It has been wonderful to be able to put time into teaching & Bible study! Taylor loves teaching- he always has. Reading through the Bible as a church and teaching on Wednesdays over the current week’s chapters has been a highlight of our week. (In the above picture, we are at Km 14 on a Wednesday, sorting out descendants in 2 Kings.)

Through the Library, we get to meet new people; some are believers, some are not; I enjoy hearing their stories. We recently had our Summer Reading Program event. It was well attended and a good chance to build relationships. Please pray that we would use the opportunities for God’s glory.
This summer has been more involved at Hospital Shell. Since the doctor in charge of the cleaning and hygiene department is out of the country for a few months, Taylor has picked up the slack by supervising the cleaning schedule. It has given him an even more interactive role: praying with the two cleaning staff and learning about their lives, also interacting more with the nurses, ensuring that we stay up to standards in the ER, Lab, and Surgery.
We are excited about finally testing out some ideas on the technology stewardship project (MenTe). We’ve found a potential option for supporting accountability software and have a few families who have volunteered to be our “guinea pigs” as we figure out what is helpful. The need for technology stewardship is growing and people are starting to see the importance of it for their families.
I guess somewhere in our heads, we pictured a “missionary” talking mainly to people who don’t yet know the Lord. And though, of course, we honor that work and pray for opportunities to be a part of it, we spend a large portion of any given week very purposefully chatting with Christians! Taylor schedules time to check in with individual saints, but especially in Latin American culture, many opportunities are unplanned. Some people are working through disagreements within the church, others want to talk about family/parenting issues. Often, we are mutually encouraged, hearing of the Lord’s faithfulness where they are working, whether farther out in rural areas or here locally.
As the school year begins up again, we’re gearing up for fall activities, confident that the Lord already knows what is ahead!
