Last Tuesday afternoon, I was delighted to watch the ministry at the library stretch it’s little wings. Don’t get me wrong. We didn’t have a line of folks clammoring to get in or anything. In fact, I only checked out 2 books.
However: my younger two kids and a couple of their friends enjoyed an afternoon reading books.
A young mom came in with her toddlers and wound up staying close to an hour talking about her marriage and how the Lord has been convicting her.
A friend stopped by so I could help her unsnarl some questions in the English course she is taking for work.
While waiting for me to close up, Taylor was able to chat with a couple of men who live close by and who he doesn’t otherwise see too often.
These are exactly the kinds of interactions we pray will happen in this place. Please pray with us that we would be faithful in what is put in our hands to do. Also, in August, we have to renegociate the rental agreement for the library. The organization that owns the building is now asking more in rent than we had originally budgeted for. We have asked them to come down on it somewhat and are waiting for their reply. If the Lord wants the library in that location, we are confident that He will make a way for it to stay there. We’re just not sure if He plans to do that through having US to budget more toward it, having OTHERS donate a small monthly donation specifically for the library, or by moving the BOARD to lower the rent. What we do know is that it is the LORD’s library and He is big enough to handle it.
