In December a little mosquito carrying the Dengue virus shared its became a bit too friendly with us. One by one we all fell ill, but thankfully not all at the same time. So we spent our entire month of December caring for each other. Who was the “lucky” one to be sick on Christmas Day? Me. Taylor. For that I’m am actually thankful that the children were mostly healthy enough to enjoy the holiday. All this happened while my mother came down to visit us. We had so many plans to do with her, but instead she ended up taking care of us. Thanks Mom!
Our version of Dengue was not as bad as some: 3 days of fever; a week-long headache of which medicine does nothing (I now feel a bit more empathy for people with migraines!); and 2 weeks of lack of energy and general recovery. We have a little song that we composed about it here (use the CC option to read the words).
As we started recovering from Dengue, then we got hit with a minor cold that had been going around town…Omicron was (and is) also starting to hit our part of Ecuador hard too. All in all, we had been sick with one thing or another for about 8 straight weeks! However, as of this week, I can now write that we are all healthy!
Enjoy!
