Last week at the Texadorian Treehouse, our washer broke. That can be kinda annoying in a family of 8 that get themselves dirty a lot! So, that Saturday, Papa and the boys took it on themselves to try to fix the thing. Well, they ended up taking almost the entire washer apart, and looked up all sorts of stuff on Youtube, (you can learn just about anything on the Internet!) and finally came to the conclusion that, though all the parts by themselves were in perfect working condition, they couldn’t work together as a whole. Sounds a lot like people, doesn’t it? Okay, not quite: people don’t work just fine by themselves – especially not by themselves. But, back to the story.
In order to get the washing machine to work properly, the guys decided that we needed a new part. Until we can get that part, however, we are stuck without a washer, and if Mama had to do all those clothes by hand, it would take her just about forever. So, instead, every couple of days we all have a “washing party”!
Papa’s at work, so Mama does his, but the rest of us all take our own clothes out of the big red bucket where they were soaking, and soap and scrub them on the cement pad by the gate. Levi has set up a tube-contraption that helps spread the hose-water out across the pad so everyone can get at the water, and that is very helpful. That is, it’s helpful until Gracie takes the hose out of the tube; she likes to spray stuff! Taking that into account, she will very happily use her hose to rinse your clothes for you – as long as you don’t mind getting rinsed as well!

Sounds like a lot of creative minds working together….well….except Gracie. She has a mind of her own and washing clothes is not part of her plan!
